Going into it’s fourth year on the air, the national magazine program AMI This Week was refreshing it’s format, and needed a new visual identity, led by a new logo and colour scheme. The challenge was to create a look that was both distinct to the show and representative of it’s new looser feel, but felt highly connected to the network brand. We stuck with the primary network colours of black and white, but substituted the corporate green accent colour, for a bright red, which represented the cross Canada nature of the show. We wanted to use a hand-written font to add some looseness and break up the rigid lines of the network look, however script fonts often bring legibility issues. We were able find an appropriate font that still met our accessibility standards of high legibility, and with a few letter customizations, was able to be integrated throughout the program graphics.
