Every month, AMI-tv airs a selected radio documentary from sister channel AMI-audio. To broadcast an audio only program on television, they needed to create some form of visual content to accompany the program.
The initial assignment was to create a single generic slate/poster that would be married to all AMI-audio documentaries that would air on TV. This created a problem creatively, as the topics and moods of the documentaries were so varied. I devised a new strategy, where we would create custom key art for every special in a style that was evocative of each unique documentary.
This strategy has been effective in adding value to the visuals of each special, and by staying with a still poster, greatly reduced the required resources. The additional benefit was that we created valuable assets that could be used to promote the programs across all platforms.
